When it comes to visiting Walt Disney World (WDW), I’m the first in my family to pack my suitcase with red and white polka dot shirts and glittery accents. I’m also that girl that peeks into Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and wished she could get a Disney-style makeover. Until now. A recent visit to a Disney World Character Couture makeover showed me you can have the best of both worlds – the ability to channel your inner Disney Princess and still look adult-ish.
So, what exactly is a Character Couture makeover, where can you get one, and what does it cost? Additionally, is a Character Couture makeover worth the effort and money? Here’s the scoop.
What’s a Character Couture Makeover?
A quick answer is this: think Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for adults.
To go into detail, Character Couture makeovers are fun, one-hour sessions in select WDW salons. Using your own clothing cues, the luxury experience is taking Disney bounding up a notch.
As for which Disney characters you can choose, the answer is endless. I tried to look them up before I visited but to no avail and here’s why: you pick your character inspiration and your stylist works the magic. When I was chatting with mine (and listening to the stylist next to me) they take your hair color and texture into consideration to create your best possible look.
Yes, YOUR. No two are ever the same. How about that for creative? During my visit, I wanted to be pleasantly surprised with the outcome. And I was. I even had the chair-spinning mirror reveal just like in Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.
What Character Couture Makeover Packages Are There?
At the time this post was written, there are three:
Storybook Style
Includes a Disney-character inspired hairstyle.
Cost: Children ages 4-12 $50, Adults $80
Magical Makeover

Cost: Children ages 4-12 $75, adults $105

Tip: My stylist gave me one Jamberry nail on each hand and painted the others to match. Of course, your stylist may do things differently.
When Are the Best Times to Get a Character Couture Makeover?
Here’s my take. If you’re planning a full day in the park, try to book a Character Couture package first thing in the morning. That way you have a full day to show off your look.
I also like the idea of having a Character Couture makeover on Disney party days, Dapper Day, and even when Disney Bounding.

Tips for a Character Couture Makeover?
Yes, several:
Pick out your character before you go. Bring your clothing options and change into them a little before your appointment.
Go with dry hair. Each stylist has one hour to transform you. The more time she spends on basic styling, the less time she’ll have to add the pixie dust!
When it comes to makeovers with makeup application, it includes a heavy focus on the eyes. Please arrive with foundation, concealer, and powder already applied if that’s your bag. If you like to use a setting spray, please bring your own. I didn’t see any in use during my visit.
Is a Character Couture Makeover Worth It?
One word answer: Yes! I loved every moment of my visit. Secondly, I was surrounded by friends that were getting makeovers, so that’s something for you to consider as well. It would make a fun girls day out or birthday party celebration, too. Additionally, think hard ticket events in Magic Kingdom like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party & Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Yep.
Honestly, I’m already thinking about what character I want to channel next.
