I finally had my head wrapped around the Walt Disney World park tickets and Disney annual passes. Then WDW goes and offers a 1-Day, 1-Park with 3 Linked Fastpass+ selections. Sigh. Is a 1-Day, 1-Park Pre-Linked FastPass+ Disney World ticket worth it? Maybe. Here’s the scoop to help you decide.
Is this type of ticket worth it? And furthermore, why would you want to purchase a Disney World park ticket with pre-chosen FastPass+ selections? Here’s the scoop on ticket offerings for each park, FP+ selection options and value.
What We Know So Far about 1-Day, 1-Park Pre-Linked FastPass+ Disney World Tickets
Test driving the four park tickets of this style, so far I’ve noticed that the FP+ selections begin around 11am and run through about 4:30pm with approx. a couple of hours in between each. I do enjoy that fact, as the first two hours of any park’s opening is the sweet spot. That’s when I get the most attractions covered.
According to the official Walt Disney World website, here’s the take on the new ticket type:
“With this ticket, 3 FastPass+ experiences are selected for you to use the next day—and will be conveniently linked to your ticket.”
Translation: if you’re planning a last-minute, one day visit on a peak date, you’ll at least have three FP+ selections as opposed to none.
“If you’d like to use your ticket on another day and choose your own 3 FastPass+ experiences, see the specified usage dates in the Important 1-Day Ticket Details during checkout. ”
When Can They Be Used?
Translation: These new tickets need to be bought the day before for next day usage. You’re not able to select your own first three FastPass+ selections. I’m assuming that after the first three have been used, you can make additional selections at an in-park kiosk or My Disney Experience app.
“With this ticket, the 3 FastPass+ experiences included with theme park admission have been selected for you and conveniently linked to your ticket, and are only valid for the itinerary date and arrival windows specified. If you would like to use your ticket on another day and choose your own 3 FastPass+ experiences, see the specified usage dates in the Important 1-Day Ticket Details during checkout. FastPass+ attractions and entertainment experiences, the number of selections you can make and available arrival windows are limited. Valid theme park admission and online registration required.
The 1-Day Ticket: Magic Kingdom park is valid for one admission to Magic Kingdom park on a date that is valid for the ticket type (Peak, Regular or Value). This ticket must be used on or before December 31, 2019 and is not valid at Epcot or Disney’s Hollywood Studios or Disney’s Animal Kingdom park.”
Translation: If you want to purchase a single day, single park ticket that let’s you customize your FP+ experiences, please feel free.
Is there an Additional Cost?
Right now, the cost of a ticket is the same price as a one day, one park ticket. So there’s that.
Pre-Selected Attractions for Each Theme Park Ticket
Here are the styles for each WDW theme park:
Magic Kingdom
Epcot
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
If you’ve educated yourself on the popular rides and attractions at Walt Disney World, you’ll notice one major thing: none of them are on the list. That goes for all four theme parks.
The Benefits
Let’s say you’re headed to a park tomorrow. During high crowd level days, you’re FP+ selections will be slim to none. Choosing a park ticket of this style will guarantee you three head-of-line attractions. Each park does offer at least two themes for the FastPass+ selections as well.
Another benefit: the ticket cost is the same as a single day, single park ticket without any linked FP+ selections.
The Downside
The three FP+ selections you choose are the ones you have to stick with until you’ve used them all. There have been times when I’ve visited, say, Magic Kingdom and have scored last-minute morning fastpasses for Seven Dwarfs. It’s rare but it has happened. You’ll need to weigh both the pros and cons before deciding.
