When you think of staying on-property at Walt Disney World, does your mind go straight to dollar signs? Or maybe you’re thinking, “There’s no way I can afford to stay at a Walt Disney World Resort.” If that’s the case, you truly don’t have to. Personally, I’m a huge fan of Walt Disney World Value Resorts for plenty reasons. From easy layouts to family-friendly atmospheres, here are six advantages of staying at a Walt Disney World Value Resort.
As a family goes, we’ve been pretty lucky to stay at all three WDW Resort tiers: Value, Moderate, and Deluxe. And, yes, each has its own special qualities and benefits. But, if it comes down to visiting WDW once a year in a Deluxe Resort or visiting twice a year at a Walt Disney World Value Resort, the choice is very clear.
Ask my teen daughter her favorite on-property place to stay and she’ll tell you it’s a Value Resort. Here’s why I’m loving Walt Disney World Value Resorts and why you really should give them a try.
1. Walt Disney World Value Resorts Make You Feel Like You’re in a “Disney Bubble”
Look, I enjoy staying at all WDW Resorts and that’s the truth. But, there are some that I feel can be picked up and plopped down in another area and they’d feel the same way. That’s not a bad thing, but I do enjoy feeling like I’m in a “Disney Bubble” when I visit.
I want to look around my resort room and see all the Disney touches. I want to step out of my room door and feel like I’m immersed in Disney. Catching my drift?
When you stay at a Walt Disney World Value Resort, that’s exactly what you’ll get. You’ll see larger-than-life Disney icons throughout the resort buildings, many of which are three stories tall. You’ll have cool Disney images on the wall.
Stay in one of the newly-renovated resort rooms and the Murphy bed will drop down to show Disney characters.
2. Walt Disney World Value Resorts Are Super Family Friendly
If you have concerns about taking the kiddos to WDW, don’t – especially when it comes to Walt Disney World Value Resorts. They’re created with families and kids of all ages in mind. We’ve stayed at a Value Resort more than a dozen times and, honestly, I’ve never been concerned about the noise.
I’ve actually stayed in a Premium Room that was maybe six steps away from the Main Pool area at Pop! Century Resort and didn’t hear a thing.
You can use your complimentary MagicBand or the My Disney Experience app to unlock your resort room door, too.
3. Walt Disney World Value Resorts Are Affordable – If You Know When to Visit
If you’re on a budget, you’ll definitely want to check out the Walt Disney World Value Resorts to consider booking. The most affordable of all the WDW Resorts, Value Resorts offer plenty of, well, value.
If your travel plans are flexible, you can save even more by visiting during the off seasons, aka low crowd seasons. WDW loves to incentivize folks that visit during off seasons by lowering resort room prices, and that’s generally when we visit. Not only will room rates be lower, lower crowd levels mean less time waiting in attraction queues.
4. Walt Disney World Value Resorts Have Really Good Food Courts
Here’s the rub: most days I don’t want giant meals when I visit WDW. And most days I want something that’s a grab-and-sit type of meal, too. A really good benefit of staying at Walt Disney World Value Resorts is the fact that they have lively food courts that offer a little bit of everything.
You’ll find pizza, burgers, chicken, and grab-and-go sandwiches in the cooler. They are also good for having desserts that you won’t find anywhere else (Tie Dye Cheesecake at Pop!, anyone?).
The Value Resort Food Courts open fairly early each day (around 6:30am), stay open late, and have several food stations to take your pick from.
5. Walt Disney World Value Resorts Offer at Least One Pool
Yes, all of the WDW Resorts have at least one pool, but I never would have thought that Walt Disney World Value Resorts have at least one as well. The Main Pool area will be most fun with hourly activities, yes.
But, the secondary pool is more relaxing and quiet. Both pool styles will have on-duty lifeguards, fresh pool towels, and offer a laundrette nearby, too.
You’ll also find lounge chairs and covered tables at the secondary pool.
6. Walt Disney World Value Resorts Are Easy to Navigate
Thinking about WDW Moderate and Deluxe Resorts, the properties are very large, and that’s fine. But, I find Walt Disney World Value Resorts very easy to navigate.
Each has a similar setup (three-story buildings with giant Disney icons), bus service to all four theme parks and Disney Springs, and a playground for kids to blow off steam. But, did you know most have a running/jogging trail? Yep!
Also, once you’ve familiarized yourself with a Walt Disney World Value Resort layout, you’ll find it a breeze to get around. Make sure to check out the resort map (generally near the Main Pool area) or grab a paper copy from the Front Desk.
