When it comes to Blizzard Beach for adults, thinking it’s a kids-only water park (especially if you’ve never been) would not be wrong. I mean, kids and Walt Disney World go together like peanut butter and jelly. So, if you’re an adult and love water parks can you still have a great time at Blizzard Beach? You betcha. Here’s how.
Disclosure: My family and we’re given complimentary tickets to Disney’s Blizzard Beach for the purpose of this post. All opinions (and photos) are my own!
Blizzard Beach for Adults
As a parent of official adults now, as my youngest got older we tended to head for waterparks less and less. And that’s okay for me. Generally, I’d hang around the wave pool and let The Kid do her thing.
When Blizzard Beach reopened a couple of months ago, I had the honor of checking it out ahead of time. And it was then that I seriously knew I could have a fun visit with or without younger kids.
So, last month I went back with my family, and with a husband that’s not a fan of waterparks at all, we grabbed some lounge chairs, put our feet on the sand, and enjoyed everything it had to offer. What was my husband’s take and what did we all really enjoy? Here’s the scoop.
Blizzard Beach for Adults: Theming
First, let’s talk about the cool theming for a minute. In a nutshell, and to tell an adorable story in the way only Disney can, a blizzard hit Central Florida and covered the area with snow. But these days, the snow is melting and there’s a fun combination of, what else, sand and snow covering the theme park. Look closely and you’ll see the melting water running off the roofs!
If you need an idea where Blizzard Beach is located on property, it’s close to the All-Star Resorts and Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort.
Blizzard Beach for Adults: Capacity
Different from its four main theme parks, Walt Disney World does not have a park pass reservation system for Blizzard Beach. On the day we visited as we were leaving, castmembers were turning folks away as the park did hit capacity. So my advice: arrive at rope drop to make sure you can enter and to grab a premium seat.
Recently, it also dropped its mask mandate for fully vaccinated guests.
Blizzard Beach for Adults: Ride Cross Country Creek Lazy River Over and Over
If there was one thing I’d really miss is Cross Country Creek at Blizzard Beach. Honestly, once we got settled into our chairs it’s the first attraction we did. With several types of floaties (look for the chair-style ones – they’re the most comfortable!), you can spend at least 30 minutes per lap on this lazy river-style water feature.
And the waterfalls are a hoot, too! There’s a cool cave that we floated through with water coming from the ceiling, perfect for cooling off. Yeah, I could spend all day just floating.

Blizzard Beach for Adults: Spend Time in Meltaway Bay
If I had to give my family’s biggest giggle of the day, it was bouncing in the waves at Meltaway Bay. An easy wave pool, the fun part is trying to stay vertical when they splash into you. It begins at zero depth near the beach and chairs area and gets deeper the closer you get to the back wall.
Blizzard Beach for Adults: Ride the Chairlift
Even if you don’t want to hit the upper water slides, riding the chairlift is a hoot. You won’t be able to ride it back down, but there are tiered steps to get you back to the bottom.
Blizzard Beach for Adults: Fulfill the Need for Speed on Summit Plummet
A fast-moving body slide, you’ll have to go Summit Plummet alone. At 120 feet tall, the free fall-style slide can get you going up to 60 miles an hour! Additionally, there’s a cool view from the top before you ride.
Blizzard Beach for Adults: Grab a Cocktail at Polar Pub
When you’re feeling a little parched, head to Polar Pub for fun spins on cocktails like Piña CoLAVA and Blue Blizzard. And even if you’re not a fancy drink kind of person, there’s a nice beer & wine selection, too.
