Just released news today, Disney Parks announced Disney After Hours BOO Bash! Taking a mix of the Disney After Hours frivolity and Magic Kingdom’s Halloween party, Boo Bash looks to be a hybrid of both. Here’s everything you need to know about the new offering.
If you’ve visited our site (thank you!), you know how much we love Halloween at Disney World. And a Walt Disney World party at Magic Kingdom wouldn’t be a party without treats, costumed characters, and themed music. Just announced on #HalfwayToHalloween, Disney After Hours BOO Bash will be a combination for both Magic Kingdom events rolled into one.
Considering there was no Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom last year, this year is giving us Halloween lovers a bit of the holiday magic.
What’s the Difference Between Disney Boo Bash and Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party?
Several things. First, instead of a traditional parade, there will be Cavalcades where it’s one float at a time with several characters on/around it.
Second, instead of six hours for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP), Boo Bash is only three hours long.
As for character meet and greets, we’ll have to wait for MNSSHP to return in it’s full glory.
It also doesn’t look like there will be fireworks or a castle show at Boo Bash as there are at MNSSHP.
What Are the Dates for Disney After Hours BOO BASH?
Disney After Hours BOO BASH will be offered on select nights from Aug. 10 – Oct. 31 after Magic Kingdom closes. From 9pm to 12am, we’ll have three hours to get our Halloween party on. Guests with tickets are permitted in the park starting at 7pm. Additionally, Disney Parks have announced that some will be from 9:30pm – 12:30am.
If you have a park pass for Magic Kingdom and a BOO Bash ticket on the same day, you can stay all day from park open to midnight.
What Events Will Be at Boo Bash?
According to Disney Parks Blog, the spooky, kooky, but still family-friendly, festivities will include Halloween-themed cavalcades, character sightings throughout the park, special performances by the Cadaver Dans, décor, lighting, music. And back for this year: trick-or-treating with candy stops.
Translation: there will be no dedicated Halloween parade (may favorite of all the Walt Disney World parades), but like this year and last, we’ll see a single float with characters.
I’m super hopeful that there will be projections on the castle, but my hopes aren’t up for a show around the stage.
Can We Dress in Costume for BOO Bash?
Yep! Guests of all ages are permitted to dress in costume. With the costume, approved face coverings must be worn except for taking photos. Costume masks, however, are permitted for children ages 13 and younger.
For reference, here’s a link to the official Walt Disney World Costume Guidelines.
What’s Disney After Hours?
Disney After Hours is a special (hard ticket) event that’s open to a limited number of guests. after normal park operating hours. The experience offers low wait times at more than 20 attractions from classics like the Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain, to newer favorites like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. It’s a ghostly good time for all!
Will There Be Low Wait Times at BOO Bash?
According to the information I received, yes! One of my favorite aspects about the Walt Disney World hard ticket events is that rides tend to be walk on or a very low wait.
When Do Tickets Go on Sale for BOO Bash?
Tickets go on sale next month. There will also be an early purchase window available to guests of select Walt Disney World Resort hotels. You need to visit this website starting next month to purchase tickets.
How Much Are Tickets for BOO Bash?
Disney Parks hasn’t released prices yet, so keep checking back here. I’ll add the prices when they’ve listed them.
