Hershey’s Chocolate World is a popular tourist destination in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and for good reason. The sprawling complex offers a variety of attractions, from chocolate-making demonstrations to rides and games. But one of the newest and most exciting additions to Hershey’s Chocolate World is the Great Candy Expedition.
The Great Candy Expedition is a cinematic train-themed adventure that takes visitors on a journey to colorful worlds inspired by their favorite Hershey candies. The experience is fully immersive, with 270-degree projection mapping and special effects that transport guests right into the action. Taking the place of the 4D Chocolate Movie (honestly, it wasn’t my favorite attraction in Hershey’s Chocolate World and I’m happy it’s been. replaced), it’s still in the same area as the former movie.
For reference, there are four paid experiences in Hershey’s Chocolate World that can be bundled into one ticket for some big savings:
Great Candy Expedition
Create Your Own Candy Bar
Hershey’s Unwrapped
Hershey Trolleyworks
And if that wasn’t enough, there’s Reese’s Stuff Your Cup (you make a giant Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup and customize it to your taste), and a super cool free ride, the Hershey’s Chocolate Tour where you learn about the Hershey’s milk chocolate-making process.
Hershey’s Great Candy Expedition
The adventure begins in the train station, where guests learn about the different candy-filled destinations they’ll be visiting. Once they take their seat in the immersive theater, they’ll feel right inside the train adventure, surrounded by epic screens and dazzling special effects. And they get to vote alongside their fellow audience members for the three lands they’ll visit! Personally, I loved the fact that we were able to vote on the land we were visiting next.
Along the way, guests will experience all sorts of fun and interactive elements, including:
- Special effects: The train ride is filled with special effects that will make guests feel like they are actually in the candy worlds. These effects include:
- Projection mapping: The walls of the train car are covered in projection mapping that creates a realistic and immersive experience.
- Sound effects: The train ride is accompanied by sound effects that help to bring the candy worlds to life.
- Scents: The train ride features different scents that are associated with each candy world. These scents help to create a truly sensory experience.
- Interactive elements: Guests can interact with the train ride in a number of ways, including:
- Voting: Guests can vote on which candy world the train should visit next.
