If you are planning to propose to your partner, then you need to come up with a fantastic plan for the proposal. You want to make it impossible for them to say no with all of the effort that you have put into this, not that you think they are going to say no anyway. But, planning the perfect proposal takes time and dedication, and that’s why we’re here to help.

Let’s take a dive into three important things that you need to consider when you’re planning out your proposal. Hopefully, this will take the stress out of planning and make an important day in your life day even better.
How to Propose To Your Partner: Find The Perfect Ring

One of the most important parts of the proposal is the main event – the ring. Do you have any idea what kind of ring your partner likes? Do you have any idea of what metal they love? What kind of cut do they like? What level of clarity would they prefer? Do you know where the best place to buy diamonds is? These are all things that you’re going to have to think about, ensuring that you are choosing the perfect ring for your partner.
When you’re doing this, you absolutely cannot base it off of anything other than their likes and dislikes. Engagement rings are deeply personal, and you must focus on the taste of your partner, not what your friends like or what you like. These days, colored diamonds are making a big comeback, so you may want to consider a non-traditional color or style.
How to Propose To Your Partner: Where’s the Perfect Place for You Both?
The next thing that you’re going to have to consider is the perfect place to propose. Again, this is something that is a person between you and your partner. Maybe you want to go somewhere that you have never been before, or somewhere that you have been and both fell in love with. It might be nice to go back to the place where you first met for your proposal, or jet off somewhere beautiful on holiday.
If you know that your partner would prefer something more intimate though, you can always decorate your home in the most romantic way possible, and have your proposal there. This way it’s private, but still romantic and perfect for you two.
I have to add, for my husband and me, it was a super simple proposal. On my birthday many years ago (and while watching South Park, mind you) he turned to me and simply said, “Will you marry me?” There was zero pretense and, nineteen years later, we’re still going strong.
Practice the Perfect Speech

Lastly, when you propose you need to think about what you are going to say. While you could opt for the classic “Will you marry me?”, there may be more that you want to say instead. Many of us love romance and speeches and you telling us how wonderful we are can bring tears to our eyes. Think about the most soppy rom-com you have ever seen and aim for that level of speech and commitment.
Of course, you don’t need to say much at all as the proposal itself speaks volumes about your feelings for your other half. Write everything down and memorize it so you can wow your soon-to-be fiance. If you really want to ramp up the words, consider writing a rhyming poem. You can make it poignant, funny, sentimental, and truthful. If all else fails, look up love letters from famous people to their beloved and use one as a guide.
