If you’re starting to plan a Biloxi girls getaway, you’re not alone. The city and surrounding area is ideal for kicking back and relaxing and enjoying some light adventure. But where do you start planning? Right here! From craft classes to on-beach dining to shopping and a spa day, here are the best things to do for a perfect Biloxi girls getaway – and in Ocean Springs, too!
Best Things to Do for a Biloxi Girls Getaway
Disclosure: I was graciously hosted by the fine folks at Coastal Mississippi to give you the scoop on what to do for a Biloxi Girls Getaway. All opinions are my own!
Biloxi will always have my heart. It’s a city that has something for everyone, is close to other quaint Mississippi cities (Hattiesburg is only an hour away!), the food is amazing, and there are plenty of places to stay, things to do, and fun to be had. Here are my favorite picks to make your next Biloxi girls getaway and fun and memorable one!
Have a Luxurious Spa Day
The best thing to do when planning a Biloxi girls getaway is to make sure you have a luxurious day of pampering in the mix. Hands down, my pick is the Spa at Beau Rivage. You can pick from solo or couples massages (two massage tables in a room if you want to share the experience) or ask for your own private rooms.
During your visit to the spa, you’ll definitely want to take advantage of the additional amenities it has to offer: use of the resort’s massive outdoor pool, relaxing lounge chairs, three indoor whirlpools, and a steam room.
Or if you’re feeling particularly relaxed, simply sit back and enjoy your time with a complimentary cocktail. As for your massage, you can hang out before or after, or both if you really want to take in all that the spa has to offer.
Biloxi Girls Getaway – Take a Walk Along the Boardwalk
What’s a girl’s getaway without a little shopping? Head to the West Biloxi Boardwalk for gorgeous views of the Gulf Coast and plenty of places to buy souvenirs. The raised boardwalk is a great place to mosey along the coastline and there are plenty of places to park.
And if you really want some tourist style souvenirs, pop into the massive Sharkheads store for shells, shirts, sun dresses, and everything else you could possibly want.
Do Some Shopping in Downtown Ocean Springs
If you love mom and pop boutique shops and quaint restaurants, downtown Ocean Springs is the place to be. Highly walkable, you won’t find typical beach souvenirs, but you will find handmade creations from local artisans and higher end clothing.
Ocean Springs & Biloxi Girls Getaway – Have a Private Beach Dining Night
You can’t go to the Gulf Coast without spending some time hanging out on the gorgeous beach, but if you really want to ramp up your fun, make a girl’s night out of it.
Food, Booze, & Hiccups takes all the stress out of coordinating an on-beach dinner party: they provide the food, the drinks, and even a Bluetooth speaker so you can play your favorite tunes.
If you want to spend a little time out in the water ask about renting kayaks and get ready for some giggles and beautiful views at sunset.
Ocean Springs & Biloxi Girls Getaway – Make Your Own Jewelry
A girl’s getaway isn’t completely without a fun, hands-on activity. Without a doubt, my pick is Ethotera in Ocean Springs. Just over the causeway from Biloxi, the art studio provides everything you need to make custom enamel jewelry, including easy instructions.
Truly, the only thing you’ll need to do is narrow down which colors and shapes to choose from to customize your necklace.
Biloxi Girls Getaway – Take a Riverboat Tour
If you want to add in a relaxing cruise on calm water, book a tour on the Betsy Ann Riverboat. With both indoor and outdoor views of the coast, the riverboat tour not only provides a beautiful way to relax for a couple of hours, it gives first hand knowledge of the area for a fun lesson in Gulf Coast history.
Biloxi Girls Getaway – Where to Eat in Biloxi & Ocean Springs
Because Biloxi and Ocean Springs are so close together, it’s easy to have favorites from both cities. Here are my top picks for places to eat in and around Biloxi, Mississippi.
Mosaic
Located in downtown Ocean Springs, Mosaic is a great place for lunch or dinner, or both. With both indoor and outdoor dining areas, my pick is a table outdoors if the weather is lovely.
As for its creative menu with a southern flair, if you want to go a little lighter try the falafel bowl.
Greenhouse Biloxi
Oh my gosh, Greenhouse Biloxi is THE place for sweet and savory biscuits. Serving breakfast, brunch, and lunch the restaurant is super popular and for good reason. The menu is small, but packs a punch as there is only one style of each biscuit per day. Honestly, I’ve never had a biscuit there that I didn’t absolutely love.
Beau Rivage Atrium Cafe
Newly renovated, the Atrium Cafe at Beau Rivage is southern-style cuisine with fun spins on its dishes. If you want a true, deep south meal, try the chicken and waffles, they don’t disappoint. If you and the ladies feel like you can’t go to the Gulf Coast without trying some of its seafood, you’ll definitely want to try the glazed salmon dish.
But if you’re feeling like you need an Italian dish in your life, try the pasta. Throw in a glass of southern style sweet tea and the cafe is the perfect place for lunch.
Fill-Up with Billups
Fill-Up with Billups is a fun, super cool place for breakfast. Part southern cafe, part classic 50’s eatery, the plates are big to accommodate all of the food, so get ready for some big meals. My pick is to definitely test drive this restaurant for breakfast, and try one of its savory waffle sandwiches.
Additionally, I really can’t mention Fill-Up without mentioning how affordable the prices are, too. My daughter and I shared one of the massive waffles with a side of pancakes – a perfect sweet and savory start to our morning.
Field’s Steak & Oyster Bar
Field’s Steak & Oyster Bar is one of those charming southern restaurants in Biloxi where you can put on a nice sundress, a pretty hat, and some sandals and fit right in. I mean, if there’s an excuse for me to dress up, I’m always down.
We dined there for dinner and it definitely did not disappoint. My friend’s filet was perfectly cooked to order, I loved the creamy mac and cheese, and Molly’s lobster mac and cheese is high on the list of must-tries.
Lil Market Deli & Bagelry
The final stop on our Gulf Coast girls getaway was Lil Market Deli & Bagelry, and it was the perfect end to a lovely visit. A no-frills type of restaurant, place your order inside and grab a table under a sun umbrella outside. For us, an authentic, hand-rolled bagel with flavored cream cheese and an orange juice was just the right amount of food to hit the road.
Biloxi Girls Getaway – Where to Stay in Biloxi & Ocean Springs
For our girls getaway, we actually tested two lodging places, Hotel Legends and The Roost. Here are the details for both to help you narrow down your selection.
Hotel Legends
If you and the girls love a throwback to the golden age of Hollywood, Hotel Legends is the choice to go with. With a cool, hip vibe, gorgeous outdoor pool, and classic theming you can choose from single guest rooms or connecting suits for privacy.
For Molly and me, we each had our own bedroom with a central living area, which was ideal as we both had our own places to get ready in the morning. It also made it nice as it was very spacious and we had plenty of room for all of our things.
As for the pool and patio, it was hands down my favorite place on property. It’s ideal for both sun and shade lovers as it has plenty of chaise lounges of both styles around the pool. Personally, I loved grabbing a spot in the shade to listen to the relaxing sounds of the outdoor fountain.
The Roost
The lodging hidden gem of Ocean Springs, The Roost is all about boutique hotel luxury. Each guest room is themed with a chique ocean vibe and is absolutely lovely and accommodating.
You’ll really want to make some time to lounge about as the recently added pool and patio area makes for a great place to simply just be.
