The Welsh Hills Inn is a true hidden gem of a bed and breakfast in Central Ohio. Not only is it a perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and enjoy some peace and quiet, it’s ideal for couples looking for lodging that offers everything you need to relax and enjoy time together.
Disclosure: We were graciously hosted by the fine folks at Welsh Hills Inn B&B to give you the scoop on what to expect when planning a visit. All opinions are my own!
Welsh Hills Inn B&B – The Basics
While there’s nothing basic about Welsh Hills Inn, I’ll start with a quick overview of the property. The property offers a variety of room types to choose from, including deluxe suites and standard rooms. All of the rooms are spacious and comfortable, and they offer stunning views of the surrounding countryside, one even with its own private screened-in porch area.
Established in 2010, the Inn is run by husband and wife Jeff & Bobbi Noe. There are two adorable dogs on property, Ellie & Wrigley, and they’re second in command, in my opinion. You’ll find all four of them hanging about during the day and it’s highly refreshing.
Its 15 acres has plenty to offer inn guests, so much so that apart from dining, there’s really no need to leave the property. And if you really want a full immersive experience, Jeff is a fabulous cook and will even make you a decadent dinner.
And I can’t write about the Inn without mentioning a couple of accolades. First, it’s a member of Select Registry, a highly regarded, high standard group of the B&Bs. And second, it was named the #1 accommodation in the U.S. by TripAdvisor. Well done!
Welsh Hills Inn Guest Rooms
The six separate rooms at Welsh Hills Inn are spacious and comfortable, and they offer stunning views of the surrounding countryside. If you’re looking for a place to relax and rejuvenate, it truly is a perfect choice.
We had the pleasure of staying in the Brynmor Queen Luxe Suite which was located in the basement area of the main house. And while there weren’t any windows, it wasn’t an issue at all as there was so much to take in. The suite offered a massive flatscreen tv in the living area, a queen bed, bar/dining area, and full bath with shower. It was calm, quiet, and very soothing to be in.
When we checked in, we were given a full tour of our rooms by the lady of the house, Bobbi. She gave us instructions regarding the lights, shower, and additional needful things to know. We were also treated daily with a carafe of ice water and chocolates when she freshened up our rooms.
Amenities
During our stay, we checked out several of the on-property amenities the B&B has to offer:
Bocce Ball Court – Having never played the game before, I’m a huge fan of the sport now. It’s competitive but not high octane and is all about skill and strategy. Additionally, you can find table tennis, a dart board, and board games.
Hammocks – There are several on property (along with branded swings) and they were a hoot to try out.
Pond – The pond has several types of fish and it’s catch and release-style. No worries if you don’t come prepared – they offer both poles and bait to get you started.
Hiking – I truly enjoy light hiking in Ohio, especially before breakfast. For me, it’s an easy way to start the morning and I feel accomplished. There are several hiking trails on property that offer easy paths. No worries about ticks, either – there’s tick repellant near the back door to use as needed.
Outdoor Fireplace – If you want to sit around a fire, you’ll have no problem doing so. Adjacent to the Bocce Court is an adorable fireplace to use whenever you like.
Pool & Hot Tub
Let me get this out of the way: I generally don’t swim when I’m traveling. But there’s something about the pool at Welsh Hills Inn that was truly inviting. I actually donned a swimsuit twice during our stay – once around 7am!
As for the hot tub, Mr. locke spent his time there. It was a lovely temperature (not ferociously hot!) and there was plenty of room for the two of us to relax.
Breakfast
A huge perk of staying at the Inn is the full breakfast each morning. Prepared by Jeff & Bobbi, they take your preferences each day and serve it straight to whichever table you choose to dine at.
For us, we had amazing omelettes and fruit one morning, French toast with bacon on the other.
